Our place, Hansraj Public School, sits right on the Gaya-Dobhi Rd. It is a long stretch of road and cars go by pretty fast, so we have to watch the front gate closely. The school isn't very old but the building has seen a lot of activity already. Every morning starts with the same sound of feet hitting the gravel out front. We have a few trees in the courtyard that give a bit of shade when it's hot out. Inside, the walls have some charts and drawings pinned up by the students. They aren't always straight, but they show what the kids are doing. The Gaya-Dobhi Rd can get quite dusty, so we are always dusting off the desks and the windowsills. Our teachers usually arrive a bit before eight. They sit in the office for a few minutes before heading to the rooms. It’s a basic setup. We have wooden benches and some older blackboards that still work fine. During the rainy season, the road outside gets a bit muddy, and we spend a lot of time cleaning the floors after the kids walk in. We don't have a big fancy canteen, just a small area where people eat their lunch boxes. It’s a quiet enough spot once the gates are closed and classes start. We just try to keep things moving along without too much fuss. Every day is pretty much like the one before.
