Prabhat Ari Embroidery

Prabhat Ari Embroidery is tucked away in Sector 11. Specifically, we are at D 28 in the Shiv Market area of Jhundpura. If you are looking for us, we are quite near the Dharamvilla Guest House which is a big local landmark. The shop is full of fabric and different types of thread. There is always the sound of needles and people working on designs. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside because we have so much material stored on the shelves. Shiv Market is a very busy place, especially in the evenings when everyone is out shopping. The guest house nearby always has people coming and going so the street is never quiet. We do traditional ari work and other embroidery styles. It is a lot of hand work and takes a good amount of patience. Most of us have been doing this for a long time. The lighting in the shop has to be bright so we can see the small details in the patterns. Sometimes the fabric rolls get stacked so high you can't see the back wall. It feels like a small community here in Jhundpura. We know most of the people who walk past our door every day. We don’t have a website or anything, we just focus on the cloth in front of us. It is good honest work that keeps the tradition going for another generation.
