In the Mohammadabad block of Ghazipur, there is a village called Mahraur. That is where Mehauar Agro Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited is based. We work out of Shweta Rai’s place near the Kasimabad post office. The address is 233230. Ghazipur is a place where farming is the main thing people do, so it made sense for us to start this producer company. Shweta Rai helps keep the administrative side of things moving. It isn't a fancy office building. It’s a home where the business of agriculture gets handled. Farmers from the village and around Kasimabad come by to talk about the latest harvest or to sign some papers. We keep things very informal. You’ll hear the local dialect and see people in their work clothes. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words or polished presentations. We just want to get the work done. The weather in Uttar Pradesh can be tough on the crops, and we spend a lot of time talking about how to deal with that. Being a Navkrishak or new farmer company, we are learning as we go. It’s a community effort more than anything else. We are just a group of people from Mahraur who believe in working together. We keep our records at Shweta’s house and just try to do right by the other farmers in our group every day.
