Marueepindra Farmer Producer Company Limited

Marueepindra is located in Maruee, which is a bit of a drive from the main Varanasi city. Dhirendra Pratap Singh has a spot here where we all meet up. It’s not a big setup. We are a farmer producer company, which basically means we are a bunch of locals trying to pool our resources. The land in this part of Varanasi is good for certain things, but the costs of everything keep going up. We spend a lot of time figuring out how to buy fertilizer cheaper. It’s mostly just talk and hard work. We don't have any fancy brochures. If you come to Maruee, you’ll see us out in the fields or sitting around Dhirendra’s place. We have a lot of arguments about when to plant and when to sell. Everyone has an opinion. That’s just how it is when you have a lot of farmers in one room. We try to help each other out with equipment. If one tractor is broken, we find another. It’s a simple way of living. We don’t have a big corporate strategy. We just look at the sky and hope for rain, and then we work until the sun goes down. Sometimes we make a bit of profit, sometimes we just cover our costs. It’s a long-term thing for us. We aren't going anywhere. This is our home. If you want to find us, just look for the guys arguing about the weather near the old tractor.
