Bati is a small place, and most of us have lived here our whole lives. We know every corner of these fields. We decided to register this company to try and get a better handle on the farming side of things. Dealing with the markets in Mathura can be a real headache sometimes, so having a group makes it a bit easier to handle. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or things like that. We just want to make sure that the people growing the food get a fair deal. You can usually find a few of us sitting around Govind’s place in the evenings, talking about the rain or the price of diesel. It’s a very local thing. We aren't looking to become some massive corporation. We just want to work our land and maybe save a bit of money on the supplies we all need. We are just local farmers who decided that working together was better than working against each other. It’s been a learning process for all of us, handling the paperwork and the rules, but we are figuring it out as we go along and helping each other out when the harvest gets heavy.
