Bhoo Kranti Udan Farmer Producer Company Limited is run out of Jagdish Kumar’s place in Pilkhana Rasidpur. It’s a quiet enough area, mostly surrounded by fields, which makes sense for what we do. We are a group of farmers who decided that we should probably start working together instead of everyone just doing their own thing. The name sounds a bit big, but we are just regular people who know a lot about soil and crops. We spend our mornings checking the fields and our afternoons sitting around Jagdish’s place trying to figure out the best way to sell what we’ve grown. It’s not a fancy life. There is a lot of dust and a lot of waiting for the rain. We don't have a big staff or anything. It's just us, the owners and the workers are the same people. We help each other out when someone’s tractor breaks or when the harvest is too big for one family to handle. It’s about being neighbors first. We started this because the market can be tough on small farmers, and we wanted to have a bit more say in things. There’s no big strategy, just trying to do better each year. Some years are good and some are lean, but we keep going because it’s what we know how to do. It’s basic, honest work that keeps us busy all year round and we like it.
