Down in Allahabad, specifically around Babuganj and Phulganj, things can get pretty crowded. We set up Bahariya Farmer Producer Company Limited right there at 1 Babuganj Phulganj Hashimpursinkandara. It’s a long name for a place, but we all know where it is. Being in the 212109 area means we have a lot of different people coming through. We mostly focus on what the farmers in our little corner of Allahabad need. Sometimes it's just about finding a better way to get the produce to the market without it spoiling in the heat. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans. We just meet up, drink some tea, and talk about the price of fertilizer. It’s a lot of manual labor and sometimes the trucks don't show up when they are supposed to. That’s just part of the job. Most of us have lived here our whole lives, so we know the land pretty well. We are trying to keep things simple and honest. If a crop fails, we talk about why. If it does well, we celebrate a little and then get back to work. There’s always something to do, whether it’s cleaning the storage area or checking the ledgers. We aren’t looking to change the world, just trying to make farming work for the families right here in our village. It takes a lot of effort to keep things running, but we do what we can.
