Ujaleswara Farmers Producer Company Limited

Down in Turubudi, specifically in Ward No. 16 of Digapahandi, you’ll find us at Basania Manjari Sahu’s house, number 30. That’s where we run the Ujaleswara Farmers Producer Company from. It’s a busy little place most mornings. Farmers from all around the Digapahandi area drop by to see what’s going on or to drop off their paperwork. We aren't some big corporate entity with a high-rise office. We just work out of a home and keep things very local. What we mostly try to do is just keep the farming cycle going without too many hitches. We help each other out with equipment and try to find the best places to sell whatever we harvest. Sometimes the logistics of it all get a bit messy, but we’re used to that. It’s just part of the job. We spend a lot of time talking about the soil and the water and how the crops are coming along. Everyone here knows each other, so news travels fast. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Most people know us because they’ve lived next to us for years. We just try to be practical and solve the problems that pop up every day. It’s a lot of hard work, but being together makes it a little bit easier to manage the ups and downs of the seasons. We also look after the distribution of fertilizers when the season starts, which is always a big job.
