Yovan Aqua Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in the Narayanpur area of Gopalpur, Ganjam. You can find us at D. Srinivas Rao’s place. Since we are near the coast, a lot of what we do involves water and fish. It’s a different kind of farming than what they do further inland. We started this because the individual fishers and pond owners were having a hard time getting their products out to the bigger buyers. By coming together as a producer company, we have a bit more say in things. It’s not a corporate office by any means. It’s a working space where people come in with muddy boots and lots of questions. We talk about water quality, feed prices, and the best time to harvest. Gopalpur is a good place for this kind of work, but it takes a lot of effort to keep everything running right. We aren't experts in marketing or fancy business talk. We just know how to raise what lives in the water. Some days the work is never-ending, and other days we are just waiting for the right conditions. It’s a practical life. We help each other out with equipment and share what we’ve learned over the years.
