S K Choudhury Metal Mart

If you ever walk through Hanuman Bazar in Berhampur you will probably find us near the Uco Bank landmark where things are always a bit chaotic. S K Choudhury Metal Mart is tucked away on City High School Road and we have been handling all sorts of metal goods for a long time now. The shop is filled with everything from heavy sheets to smaller bits and pieces that people need for their houses or projects. It is noisy because of the traffic and the sound of metal clanging together but you get used to it after a week or two. We are right near the school so we see the kids walking past every afternoon and the locals stopping by to ask about prices. Ganjam can get really hot in the summer and the shop stays warm because of all the iron and steel around us but we just keep the fans going. It is not the kind of place where you find fancy displays or soft chairs. It is a working man’s shop with dust on the shelves and stacks of inventory that we have to reorganize every few days. My family has been doing this kind of thing for years and we just know the business inside out. We spend our days talking to contractors and homeowners who just want something sturdy that will last them a good while. It is just us and our metal.
