We operate out of Ganjam in Orissa. If you know the area, you know it can get quite hot and the ground is often dusty. We work with steel, so there is always the sound of metal moving or being cut somewhere nearby. It isn't a quiet environment. We have our equipment set up in the yard and most of the day is spent checking measurements or looking at the stock. Prefab work means a lot of pieces lying around waiting to be put together. The office is just a small corner where we keep the ledgers and handle the phone calls. We wear boots because the floor is never really clean. It is hard work, but it is what we do here. There are several of us who have been here since we started. Sometimes the trucks are late and we just sit and wait, drinking tea. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just show people what we have built. The sun hits the metal in the afternoons and it gets very bright. We try to stay in the shade when we can. It is a straightforward business. We don't use big words or fancy presentations. If the steel is good, the work is good. That is how we look at it in Ganjam. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders that come in. It keeps us busy.
