Laxmi Metal Industries

Laxmi Metal Industries is located right on the Main Road in Phulbani, Brahmapur. It’s a pretty straightforward setup we have here. Being on the main road means there is always traffic noise and people walking by, which keeps things lively I guess. We deal with metal, so the place is full of heavy items and the smell of iron and steel. There’s a small desk near the front where we keep the ledger and answer the phone when it rings. It’s usually just a few of us here making sure the orders are stacked correctly. Brahmapur can get very humid, so the air inside the shed feels heavy during the monsoon season. We don't spend much money on decorating the place because it’s a metal yard, not a showroom. The floor is concrete and has some cracks from moving heavy loads over the years. We just get on with the work every morning. Most of our day is spent checking the weight of things and loading them onto the back of trucks. It’s hard work on the back, but we are used to it by now. There isn't any fancy talk here, just the sound of metal clanging and the occasional chat about the local news. We like being in this part of town because everything we need is close by, even if the dust from the road is a constant battle.
