Kishorenagar Farmer Producer Company Limited is located over in Sanarohila. Basanta Kumar Biswal is the one looking after things there. Kishorenagar is a busy enough place, but our side of it stays pretty grounded in the daily farm life. We started this company because it was getting harder for individual farmers to deal with all the rules and the buyers on their own. Our office is a simple room where we keep the records and meet with the locals. There’s always someone stopping by to complain about the price of fertilizer or to ask when the next pickup is happening. We don't have a big staff. It's just a few of us who know the area well. Most days are spent on the phone or out in the fields seeing how the crops are coming along. We deal with the heat and the dust just like everyone else around here. It’s not a polished operation. We make mistakes in the ledger sometimes and have to spend the evening fixing them. The goal is just to keep things moving so the farmers can get their money and get back to work. We’ve known Basanta for a long time, and his place is easy for everyone to get to. It’s a very local thing, run by people who actually understand what it’s like to work the land in Angul. We just do our best with what we have and keep things honest.
