Our place is located in Debabhumi, which is part of the Aska area in Ganjam. We’re at House No. 41, and you’ll usually find Biswanath Nayak around if you need to talk to someone. We focus on layers, so eggs are our main thing. It’s a daily grind, waking up early to check on everything and making sure the birds are doing okay. There’s no day off when you’re dealing with livestock. The smell isn't always great, and the work is physically tiring, but it’s what we do. We aren't a massive industrial farm, just a private limited company run by local people. We have a few staff members who have been with us for a while and they know the routine. We deal with suppliers for feed and then try to get the eggs out to the local markets while they’re fresh. Sometimes the market prices drop and it gets stressful, or a batch of feed isn't quite right. We just handle it one day at a time. The office is basically just a desk in a room where we keep the receipts and logs. It’s a practical setup for a practical business. We’ve lived in Ganjam most of our lives and we’re glad to be running this here. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. We don't have much time for anything else, but that is fine with us because we like the work.
