Prakash Oil & Flour Mills

Prakash Oil & Flour Mills is located in the Main Bazar, right near Janaki Dharshalla. You can usually smell the flour and the oil from a block away. We’ve been milling here for a long time, and the building shows its age a bit. The floors are worn down from years of heavy bags being dragged across them. It’s a noisy place when the machines are running, so we have to shout to hear each other. We get a lot of locals coming in to get their supplies. We don’t do any fancy packaging; it’s mostly just plain bags and containers. The dust from the grain covers everything, so we’re always sweeping, but it never really stays clean for long. That’s just the nature of a mill. We know most of our customers by name and what they usually buy. It’s a tight-knit community here in the bazar. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. Sometimes the machinery gets temperamental and we have to spend the afternoon tinkering with it. It’s hard work, and my back usually aches by the end of the day, but it’s what we do. We aren't looking to expand or become a big brand. We just want to keep the mill running for the people who rely on us every day for their basics.
