Ssm Poly College

Our college is located in Lakshmi Nagar over in Erode. It’s a polytechnic school, so we focus on the technical side of things. The area is pretty busy, but once you get inside the gates, it’s a bit calmer. We have been here for a while now, teaching different diploma courses. The workshops are where most of the action happens. You’ll hear the machines running most mornings. It isn't a very quiet place, to be honest. We’ve got local teachers who have worked in shops or factories before, so they know what they are talking about. Students come here from all over Tamil Nadu, but a lot are local Erode kids. The building is functional. It’s made of concrete and painted a simple color that’s faded a bit in the sun. We have a small area where students can eat their lunch. Sometimes the fans in the classrooms are a bit loud, but you get used to it. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or anything. Most of the effort goes into making sure the equipment works. If you are coming from the main road, just look for the Lakshmi Nagar signs. People know where we are. It’s a straightforward place for learning a trade or getting a technical start.
