Sengunthar Higher Secondary School

We are right on Erode Main Road at No 161. It’s a very visible spot, so everyone in Erode has probably passed by us at some point. Since it’s a higher secondary school, we have a lot of teenagers. The energy is always high. The main road is very busy, so there’s a lot of noise from the buses and lorries. We have a large gate and a big courtyard. It’s an old institution, and you can tell by the architecture. The walls are thick, and the classrooms are large. We have a lot of teachers who have worked here for decades. They know exactly how to handle the rowdy crowds. We don't have any of those fancy modern slogans. We just get on with the business of schooling. There’s a lot of paperwork because of the board exams. You’ll often see teachers carrying stacks of files across the yard. The canteen is a popular spot during the breaks. It’s not a five-star cafeteria, just a place for tea and snacks. We have some trees for shade, which is needed during the Erode summers. It's a straightforward, hardworking school. We don't try to be something we aren't. We provide a place for local kids to get their education, and we’ve been doing it for a long time. It’s a local landmark for many people around here. We just keep our heads down and work.
