Reliancze Nursery & Primary School

Reliancze Nursery & Primary School is tucked away at No 10, Pandiyan Street in the Surampatti area of Erode. It’s a smaller school, mostly because we deal with the little ones who are just starting out. Pandiyan Street is a residential kind of place, so it feels very much like a neighborhood school. You can hear the nursery rhymes being sung from the sidewalk if you walk past in the morning. We have these tiny chairs and colorful posters on the walls to make it look a bit more cheerful for the kids. The primary students have their own space, but it’s all fairly close together. Erode gets quite hot, so we try to keep the rooms as ventilated as possible with the ceiling fans going non-stop. The parents usually stand around the gate at No 10 during pickup time, chatting with each other while they wait for their children to come out. It’s a bit of a squeeze when everyone is there at once. We don't have a giant campus, but we use the space we have for the morning line-up and a bit of play during the breaks. The staff knows most of the families by name since they’ve lived in Surampatti for years. It’s a simple operation where we focus on teaching the basics like writing and counting. There’s always a bit of sand in the hallway from the play area, but that’s just part of having young children around.
