Hotel Cochin Fort

You will find us on Bellar Road in the Kochi Fort area. It is a pretty interesting part of town, right opposite the Brundon Boat Yard. You can often see the boats and hear the work going on over there. Being in Ernakulam, the air always feels a bit salty from the sea, which is nice but it means we have to paint the walls more often. Our building is tucked away, so it stays a bit cooler than the main streets. We get a lot of people walking by looking for the historic sites or the markets. My staff and I usually spend the mornings sweeping out the sand that people drift in from their walks. It is a slow-paced kind of place. We don't have those fancy automated check-in machines; we still use a ledger and talk to everyone who comes in. Sometimes the plumbing acts up because the pipes are old, but we get it fixed as fast as we can. There is a lot of greenery around us, which means we also get a few bugs now and then, but that’s just part of life in Kerala. We don't offer a lot of extras, just a room and a bit of quiet. Usually, people ask us where to get the best fish curry, and we just tell them to walk down the block to the local place we all go to.
