Chettungal Hotel

You can find us right on Aluva Road, which is part of the National Highway. Because of the highway, there is constant traffic and the sound of big trucks passing by day and night. It’s a very busy spot. We are a small hotel and eatery that caters to travelers and truck drivers who need a place to stop. The building has been here for a long time and it looks like it. We have a small dining area where we serve hot meals. The floor is made of old tiles and the fans hum loudly overhead. It’s not a place for a fancy dinner; it’s for getting a quick, filling meal and a bit of rest. We have some rooms upstairs for people who can't drive any further. They are very basic with just the essentials. We spend most of our morning prepping the kitchen and getting the rice and curries ready. The smell of spices is always in the air. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard on the metal roof that you can barely hear yourself talk. We don't have a big website or anything like that. Most people just pull over when they see our sign from the road. It’s a tough business being on the highway, but we’ve got our routine down. We just keep serving food and cleaning rooms for whoever stops by. It gets humid here, so we keep the windows open to let the breeze in.
