North Eastern Hill University

Our place is up in the hills of Shillong, specifically on the NEHU campus of North Eastern Hill University in Meghalaya. Being located at the 793022 pin code area means we deal with a lot of mist and rain throughout the year. The university environment is quite different from a typical city office. There are always students walking around and a lot of greenery everywhere you look. We handle the administrative side of things here. Our office isn't particularly modern; it has that old institutional feel with high ceilings and heavy wooden furniture. We spend our days sorting through applications, managing faculty requests, and keeping the records straight. It’s a slow, steady kind of work. Sometimes the internet goes out when the weather gets bad, and we have to do things the old-fashioned way. We aren't here to make big claims about being some prestigious center. We just provide a space for learning and research to happen in this part of India. The air is fresh up here, though the climb to some of the buildings can be a bit of a workout. We’ve been part of the Shillong community for a long time. People know us for being reliable and for just getting on with the business of running things. It’s a quiet life compared to the big cities, but there’s plenty to keep us busy. We like the rhythm of the academic calendar and the quiet moments.
