North Eastern Hill University Central Govt.

This is Green Heaven Cottage, located over in Nongthymmai. It’s part of the wider university community here in Shillong. The area is quite green, which I guess is why the cottage got its name. It’s a quiet place, away from the loud markets and the main roads. Most of the people around here are either students or folks working with the government or the university. It’s got a very specific feel to it, very academic and slow. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy out front. It’s just a simple cottage that’s been used for university purposes for a long time. The gardens need a lot of work because things grow so fast in this Meghalaya rain. We spend our time just keeping the place up and making sure the residents or staff who stay here have what they need. It’s not a business in the way a shop or a big hotel is. It’s more of a quiet outpost for the central government university. You can find us at the 793014 pin code. Most of the neighbors are friendly and keep to themselves. It’s the kind of place where you hear the birds more than the cars. We just go about our daily tasks, keeping the rooms ready and the grounds from getting too overgrown. It’s a simple, quiet life out here in Nongthymmai for all of us.
