North Eastern Hill University

North Eastern Hill University has its office at Green Heaven Cottage in Nongthymmai, Shillong. The pin code here is 793014. It is a bit of a trek to get up here sometimes, but once you are at the cottage, it is quite peaceful. Nongthymmai is a part of town that has grown a lot, and there are shops and houses everywhere you look. The cottage itself is an older building and it has a lot of character, though it does need a bit of work here and there like any old place. We handle a lot of the university's daily tasks from this location. There are stacks of books and documents in almost every corner of the rooms. Most of the time, we are just sitting at our desks and typing or talking to people who drop in with questions. It’s not a huge campus building with hundreds of rooms, just a small place where a few of us get the work done. We’ve been at Green Heaven Cottage for quite a while now. Some days are very busy with people coming and going, especially when the semester is starting or ending. Other days, it’s just us and the sound of the birds outside. We don't have a big cafeteria or anything, just a small corner where we make our tea. It is a regular job for us and we just keep things moving as they should be for the university.
