Tucked away in Gali Number 12 at Ramesh Park, our place is right in the middle of the Laxmi Nagar bustle. You have to navigate through some narrow lanes to find R-269, but that’s just how this neighborhood is. Inside, it’s usually quite crowded with boxes and raw materials waiting to be turned into something else. We spend our days working with our hands, often sitting on low stools while we assemble the different pieces. There is always a smell of glue or wood shavings in the air, and the floor is rarely clean for more than five minutes. We are just a small group of people who have been doing this for a long time. There’s no big management team here, just us figuring out how to get the next batch of handicrafts ready for whoever needs them. Sometimes the deliveries are late or the materials aren't quite what we expected, so we have to improvise. The local kids often peek in through the doorway to see what we’re making today. It gets loud with the traffic outside, but we’ve learned to work through the noise. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person; we just rely on the work we do. It’s a simple setup, and it works for us. We keep the lights on until the work is done, usually long after the sun sets over the park.
