We have been running Samik Exports India Pvt. Ltd. from this small spot in Ganesh Nagar-II for a while now. Gali Number 8 gets pretty crowded during the day but we manage to get things moved in and out. It is mostly just us sitting here in Shakarpur making sure the boxes get where they need to go. Dealing with Delhi traffic is a whole thing itself, especially when the trucks come by. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just checking the paperwork. It isn't anything fancy but we know the neighbors and the local tea stall guy knows when we need a break. Most of the work is just routine stuff like packing things up and making sure the labels are right so nothing gets lost. Sometimes the power goes out or the street gets flooded when it rains hard, but that is just part of living in this part of town. We started out small and stayed right here in F-44/770 because it works for what we do. People ask why we don't move to a bigger glass building but this place feels right. It has character. We keep the desk messy with files and the fans keep spinning all summer. If you walk down the lane you can usually hear us talking or hear the tape dispensers going. It is honest work and we take it one day at a time.
