Fashion Crafts

Our place is K-12 on Street No. 6 in the Old Govind Pura Extn. Krishna Nagar is a busy neighborhood with lots of small businesses tucked away. You have to navigate some narrow lanes to find us, especially when the rickshaws are blocking the way. Fashion Crafts is basically a big room full of fabric, thread, and sewing machines. It gets a bit chaotic with all the different colors and materials lying around on the tables. We don't spend much time tidying up until the weekend. Most days are just spent cutting patterns or checking the stitching on things. It’s a small group of us here and we’ve known each other for years. The light in the shop isn't very strong, so we use extra lamps over the workstations. People from around the corner often pop their heads in to see what we are making this week. It’s not a quiet environment by any means. There’s always the hum of the machines and someone talking over the radio. We try to get things done without too much fuss. Sometimes the fabric deliveries are late and we have to adjust our schedule. We just handle whatever comes through the door. It’s a local operation and we like being part of the Krishna Nagar community. There is always something to do, so we just keep at it and hope the power stays on long enough to finish the batch.
