Balwani Button Co.

Balwani Button Co. is situated at Plot No. 9/5859 near the Lal Batti Chowk in the Subhash Mohalla area of Gandhi Nagar. If you know this part of Delhi, you know it’s the heart of the garment trade. We are surrounded by fabric shops and tailors. Our shop is mostly filled with cardboard boxes stacked up to the ceiling. We deal in all sorts of buttons. The chowk outside is always a mess of rickshaws, carts, and people shouting. It’s very loud and there’s always something happening. We’ve been here for a long time, and we know all the other shopkeepers in the mohalla. We usually start our day early, around ten, and stay until late in the evening. There isn't much space to move around inside because of all the stock. We have a couple of boys who help us find things and carry the heavy bags to the rickshaws. We don't use any fancy marketing. Most of our business comes from people who have been buying from us for decades. We sit on our stools, drink tea, and talk to the customers as they come in. It’s a very traditional way of working. Sometimes the rain floods the street a little bit, but we just put up some boards and keep going. It’s a busy life but we wouldn't know what else to do. This is just where we work every day.
