Sunflaag & Iron Steel

We are based out in Bhilai, over in Chhattisgarh. If you know anything about this region, you know it is all about the industry and the big steel plants. We have been operating here for a while, surrounded by the smoke and the heat of the local works. It is a gritty kind of place, but it is where the real work happens every day. Our office isn't anything to brag about—it is just a functional space where we keep track of the iron and steel we are dealing with. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out near the yard checking on how things are moving. The dust gets on everything around here, so we have mostly given up on keeping things perfectly clean. It is more important to make sure the loads are right and the schedules are being met by the drivers. The people who work here are mostly locals who have grown up with the steel plants as a backdrop to their lives. We don't use much fancy language or have long-winded meetings about strategy. We just look at what needs to be done for the day and we do it. Sometimes the heat in Bhilai can be really something in the summer, so we try to get the heavy stuff done early. It is a straightforward business, dealing with raw materials and heavy industry. We have our good days and our bad days.
