Bhilai is a town that basically lives and breathes steel, and our office at 5A, Cross Street 5 in the Hospital Sector is right in the thick of things. Chhattisgarh gets incredibly hot, so the mornings here start early before the sun gets too high. Our building is near the hospital, so it’s a familiar landmark for people in the sector. It’s a functional space. We don’t have any decorations or high-end furniture. It’s just a place where we get the job done. Most of us have worked here for years and we know the rhythms of the township. You see the same faces every day, which is nice. We spend our time managing the details of the plant operations from this side. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the sector requirements are met. There is no corporate polish here, just people who know their business and want to get home to their families at the end of the shift. The sounds of the town are always in the background—scooters buzzing by and people calling out to each other. It’s a practical environment. We don't try to be something we aren't. We are just here on Cross Street, doing what needs to be done for the company and the town. It’s simple, steady work that keeps us grounded in the local community. It may not look like much, but it is where everything happens for us.
