If you drive out to Borai Industrial Area, you’ll find us at Plot No. 7 12. It’s a bit of a trek out toward Rasmada in Durg, but that’s where the heavy work happens. The air is usually thick with the smell of metal and machinery. We deal with steel at Katyani Steels, which isn't a clean or quiet business. Our days are filled with the sound of trucks coming in and out of the yard. We have to wear heavy boots and keep an eye on everything moving around us. It’s a big space, but it feels small when we have a lot of stock piled up. The office part of the building is just a few rooms tucked away from the main floor so we can actually hear ourselves speak. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers and checking the quality of the loads we receive. It’s hard work, especially when the weather gets hot and the metal stays warm for hours. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls. Mostly just calendars and safety posters that have been there for years. The crew here is used to the grit. We’ve been at this location for a long time, and we know the rhythms of the industrial area. Lunch is usually something quick brought from home or bought from one of the vendors who cycles through the gates. It’s a tough trade, but we’re used to it by now.
