Sail, Bhilai Steel Plant

The daily grind for us happens at Quarter 7A on Street No.17 in Sector-10. Being part of the Sail, Bhilai Steel Plant in India means we are part of something huge, but our day-to-day life is tucked away in this specific quarter. It is a bit of a walk from the main gate, but the exercise is probably good for us. The building has that classic look that many of the sectors here in Bhilai share. It is sturdy and reliable. We have a small porch area where some of us stand to catch a bit of air when the office gets too stuffy. Inside, the rooms are filled with the usual stuff you would expect, like mismatched folders and some old computers that still get the job done. We do not worry much about the aesthetics. As long as the lights stay on and we have enough space to spread out our paperwork, we are happy. Street No.17 stays relatively busy because it is a main thoroughfare for people heading to different parts of the sector. You hear the scooters going by and the occasional vegetable vendor calling out his prices. It feels like a real neighborhood. We have been at this address, 490006, for a stretch and we have seen a lot of people come and go. It is a practical place for practical people who just want to do their jobs and be part of the community.
