North East Natural Crops Producer Company Limited

Our office is at Abdul Majid’s house, number 12, on Namghar Path-2 in Rukmininagar. It is a residential area, so it’s usually quiet except for the occasional car or someone walking to the namghar nearby. We call ourselves North East Natural Crops Producer Company Limited. The name is a mouthful, but the work is pretty straightforward. We deal with crops grown around the region, mostly focusing on things that aren't sprayed with too many chemicals. The office is basically a spare room with a lot of files and some samples of grains and pulses sitting on the shelves. We spend a lot of our time coordinating with growers from different parts of the state. Sometimes the phone reception isn't great, so we have to step out into the yard to finish a call. It is not a polished business setup. We wear our everyday clothes and keep a tally of the harvests on a big whiteboard. Most of the people involved are just friends or relatives who know a bit about the land. We handle the logistical side of things, making sure the crops get to where they need to go without sitting around too long. It is steady work, and we like being in this neighborhood. It feels more like a home than a workplace most of the time. We just keep our heads down and focus on the crops coming in.
