Lohitya Valley Producer Company Limited

Lohitya Valley Producer Company Limited is based in Goroimari, which is in the Kamrup district of Assam. We use Imran Ali Ahmed’s place in Natun Kathami as our main address. The name Lohitya comes from the old name for the Brahmaputra River, which is a big part of our lives here. The river gives us good soil, but it also brings floods and plenty of trouble during the rainy season. Our group is made up of people who have lived here for a long time. We know the land and we know how hard it can be to make a living from it. We aren't some polished outfit with a lot of money. We are just farmers who realized that we could do more if we worked as one group. Most of our meetings happen on the fly, while we’re working or walking down the road. We talk about what seeds to buy or how to get the harvest to the buyers without losing too much money. It’s a constant struggle, but we manage. The village of Natun Kathami is where we belong, and we don't have any plans to be anywhere else. We just want to keep farming and make sure our community stays strong. It’s simple, messy, and hard work, but it’s what we know how to do. Life by the river has taught us to be patient and keep trying.
