Karnatak University

Karnatak University is where we are, specifically the Department Of Chemistry over in Pavte Nagar. Our daily lives revolve around the labs and the offices here. It’s a large campus, and Pavte Nagar has a lot of trees and wide paths, which is nice for walking between buildings. The Department Of Chemistry building feels like it’s been here forever. It has that specific smell of chemicals and old wooden cabinets. We spend a lot of time wearing lab coats and looking at beakers or writing up notes. It’s not a fast-paced corporate environment. It’s more about the slow process of experiments and learning. The labs can get quite noisy with the fans and the equipment running. We have a lot of students coming in and out, so there is always a bit of a buzz in the hallways. Sometimes we spend hours just waiting for a reaction to finish. The desks are covered in books and journals. We have a small common room where we drink tea and talk about things other than chemistry. It’s a bit of a trek to get to the main gate from Pavte Nagar, so once we are here, we usually stay for the whole day. It’s an old-fashioned sort of place, focused on the work at hand and the study of the materials we have. It’s just how things go in an academic department like ours.
