Fatima College, Hubli

Down in Keshwapur, things move at a slightly different pace than the rest of Hubli. Our college is right in the heart of that area. The 580023 zip code is a familiar one to most of the families around here. We’ve got a fairly large building, and the stairs are probably the thing people remember most because there are so many of them. In the mornings, you can see the students walking up from the main road, carrying their bags and talking about whatever happened over the weekend. We don’t really do things in a very formal or corporate way. It’s more about just being there and getting the classes done. The canteen is usually the busiest place on the grounds, especially when they’ve got fresh snacks ready. We have a lot of old cupboards filled with records that go back years and years. It’s a bit dusty in the storage rooms, but we know where everything is. The rainy season in Hubli is something else; the water just pours down and we all end up huddled in the hallways waiting for it to stop so we can go home. There isn't any big marketing team here. It’s just us, the teachers and the office staff, trying to make sure the college runs okay. Keshwapur is a good place to be, and we’re quite used to the rhythms of the neighborhood after all this time. We just keep the lights on and the books ready for the students.
