You’ll find our office at No 242 in Sanippatti Sonarahalli, over in the Kavandanur area. We are the Ilanthendral Farmer Producer Company Limited. It’s a group we put together to help the local farmers around Sanippatti. Most of us have been working these plots of land since we were young. It’s not an easy life, but it’s what we know. We decided to form this company because we were tired of struggling on our own. By working together, we can share the costs of equipment and help each other out during the harvest. Our place in Kavandanur isn’t anything special to look at. It’s just where we keep our records and meet to talk about the weather or the crop prices. We don't use big words or have fancy business plans. We just want to grow our produce and sell it for enough to keep the farms running. There’s always something that needs doing, whether it’s fixing a fence or sorting through the latest harvest. It’s a lot of physical work and the hours are long, especially when the season is changing. We aren’t trying to be some high-flying business. We are just local people who care about our land and our community. If you come by, you’ll probably see us working or sitting around discussing the next planting cycle. It’s a simple, practical way to make sure we all survive and maybe even do a bit better than before.
