Independent Filmmaker

I work out of F-39/7 on Street Number 5 in Amrit Puri B. It’s in the Grahi area, right near East of Kailash. Being an independent filmmaker means I don't have a big studio or a huge crew. It’s mostly just me and whoever I can talk into helping out for the day. My space is filled with cameras, tripods, and a lot of hard drives. It’s a bit of a squeeze, but it gets the job done. New Delhi-110065 is a good base because there is always something interesting to film nearby. I spend a lot of time just walking around the streets looking for stories. It’s not a fancy life. There is a lot of waiting for light to be right or for noise to die down. Sometimes my neighbors wonder what I'm doing with all the gear. I just tell them I'm making a movie. It’s hard work and the pay isn't always there, but I like the freedom of it. I don't have to answer to a boss, just to the projects I care about. The office, if you can call it that, is just a room in the back. It’s messy and there are cables everywhere. But when a project finally comes together, it’s worth the headache. Just me, my camera, and this little spot in East of Kailash. The Amrit Puri area has a lot of personality, and living so close to where I work means I'm always thinking about the next shot.
