Our shop is No.-83 in the Garodiya Market, which is part of the whole Khari Baoli area. It’s a tight space, but we make the most of it. Every inch of the walls is covered with shelves, and we even have stuff hanging from the ceiling sometimes. Trading is a fast business here. You have to be quick or you miss out on a good price. We’ve been in this market for quite some time now, and we’ve seen shops come and go. We stay because we like the rhythm of the place. It’s a lot of shouting and heavy lifting, but it’s what we know. My nephew helps me out with the books now, though I still prefer writing things down by hand when I can. We don't really have a philosophy or anything like that. We just buy things and sell them, hoping to make a little bit for the family at the end of the month. The tea guy knows our order without us even asking, which is one of the perks of being in the same spot for years. Most of our customers are other traders or people who have been buying from us for decades. We don’t do any of that internet selling; we like to see the person we are dealing with. It’s more personal that way, and you can tell if someone is being straight with you.
