Our office for Dearch Architects Pvt Ltd is located in Kalkaji, right on the ground floor of K-81A. New Delhi is a crowded, energetic city, and being in Kalkaji means we are right in the thick of it. The street outside is always full of people and noise, but once you step inside, it’s all about the drawings. We have been in this ground floor space for years. It’s not a huge office, but we’ve made it work for our small team. Most of our time is spent hunched over monitors or looking at physical models we’ve built. Architecture in Delhi is a challenge because of the limited space and the old structures all around us. A lot of time goes into figuring out how to make a small area feel bigger or how to fix up an old place without it falling down. No marketing team or polished brand image exists here. We just rely on the work we’ve done in the neighborhood and beyond. Clients come in, sit down on the mismatched chairs, and we talk about their projects. There’s always a stack of blueprints somewhere that needs to be organized. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s a practical life, and we enjoy the puzzles that come with every new set of plans.
