Spaces Architects

Our office is in the basement of B-6/109 in Safdarjung Enclave. Spaces Architects is where we spend a lot of our time sketching and arguing over where a window should go. It’s a basement, so it stays relatively cool even when it’s baking outside, which is a big plus for us. We have a lot of samples lying around—bits of wood, tile, and stone that we show to people who come in. It’s a bit of a creative mess most of the time. We don’t really go for the high-end corporate look. We prefer to just sit down with a pencil and a piece of paper and figure out how to make a room work better. Safdarjung is a good neighborhood, and we’ve done a lot of work on the houses around here. Every project has its own set of problems, like weirdly shaped plots or old pipes that shouldn't be where they are. We just take it as it comes. We aren't into the whole visionary talk you see in design magazines. We just want to build things that don't fall apart and that people actually enjoy being inside of. Sometimes we stay late because a design isn't clicking, but that's just part of the job. We like the challenge of fitting everything into a tight budget or a small space. It’s about being smart with what you have. The office might be a bit cramped and the lighting isn't always perfect, but we get the drawings done and the projects finished. That's what matters to us.
