We are up on the third floor at 45/6 East Patel Nagar. It’s Divya’s place, and honestly, carrying boxes of books up those stairs is the hardest part of the job. Patel Nagar is a busy residential area, so there’s always something going on outside. The office isn’t what you’d expect for a bookstore company; it’s more of a workspace where we handle the back-end stuff. We’ve got stacks of paper everywhere and a few computers that have seen better days. Sometimes my mother calls the office phone because she forgets I’m working, and we all have a laugh about it. It’s a small team, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from answering the phone to checking inventory lists. The light in the afternoon is actually quite nice through the windows, even if the view is just other rooftops. We don't have a fancy showroom here or anything like that. It’s mostly just us working through spreadsheets and coordinating with the main stores. It’s quiet enough that we can get things done, but the local street vendors always make sure we know when they’re passing by. We just focus on making sure the books get where they need to go. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy from morning until evening every day of the week. We stay until the work is over. It’s a lot of mundane tasks but someone has to do them to keep the books moving.
