Vivekananda Correspondence College

If you walk down Nehru Road near Gopi Circle in Shimoga, you will find us in the M.R. Pai Building. It is a busy part of town with a lot of shops and people moving around all day. Vivekananda Correspondence College has been operating out of this spot for a good while. Most of what we do involves handling a lot of paperwork and talking to students who can't come to classes every day. They usually have jobs or other things going on, so they drop by when they can to pick up books or ask about their exams. The office isn't very big, and it gets crowded with files and registers piled up on the desks. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just sitting across from someone trying to figure out their course details. Since we are right on Nehru Road, you can always hear the horns and the street noise through the windows. It’s not a quiet place, but it feels real. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the stacks of forms. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait it out or work by the light from the door. It is a simple setup here in Shimoga. We just try to help people get their certificates without making things too complicated for them. The building is old but it stays cool enough during the rainy season.
