Running Shri Devi Tours And Travels out of the Surathkal Block has its ups and downs. We’ve been at this address, No.16-3/1, for some years. It’s a local operation, nothing too big. Mostly it’s just us handling the daily travel needs of folks in the Mangalore area. People come in looking for a car to rent or a quick trip to the city. We deal with the usual stuff like traffic and car repairs that always seem to happen at the wrong time. The shop is simple and we don’t spend much on decorations. We’d rather just focus on having the keys ready when someone shows up. Surathkal is our home, so we know every corner and the quickest ways to avoid the main road jams. Sometimes the phone rings late at night and we have to see who can go. It isn't a glamorous job, just a lot of driving and planning. We try to be fair with how we do things. If a car is dirty, we wash it ourselves before the next person takes it. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the way people travel stays mostly the same. They just want a way to get to a wedding or a hospital visit without a lot of fuss. We provide that. No big promises, just the work we do every day.
