Rout Fly Ash Brick Industry

Out here in Village Kolathapangi, things are a lot quieter than in the city. Our brick yard is near the Gurudijhatia post office, which is part of the Charbatia tehsil. We make fly ash bricks, which is a bit of a newer way of doing things compared to what my grandfather did. The village life suits us well. We have a good amount of space for the raw materials and the finished stacks. It is mostly just local guys from the village working here. We don’t have an office staff; if you want to buy bricks, you just find me or one of the boys near the machine. The work is loud when the press is running, but we try to keep things organized. Sometimes the roads out here get rough after a big storm, making it hard for the heavy trucks to reach us, but we usually figure it out. We aren't trying to be the biggest industry in the district; we just want to stay busy and keep the yard moving. Most of our bricks go to local construction projects nearby. It’s a simple business. We get the ash, we mix it, we press the bricks, and we let them cure. There’s no magic to it, just a lot of lifting and moving things around. We’ve been a part of this village for a long time, and everyone knows where to find the Rout family yard.
