In the Lunigoan and Kapasi area of Cuttack, you’ll find us working away. We go by Niali 4S4R Farmer Producer Company. It’s a mouthful of a name, but we’re really just a group of local farmers trying to make things work a bit better. We aren't some big city business. Most of us grew up right here in these fields. We share tools and advice, and we try to sell our stuff together so we don't get a bad deal. It’s tough work, especially when the seasons change and the water isn’t right. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. Usually, we just meet up at one of the houses or out near the fields in Kapasi. We spend a lot of time worrying about the weather and the prices of seeds. That’s just the life of a farmer in Orissa. We started this because it’s harder to do things alone. Together, we can at least help each other out when things get difficult. We aren't looking for fame or anything like that. We just want to keep farming and keep our community going. It’s a lot of dirty hands and long days, but that’s okay. We know the land and the land knows us. It’s a simple arrangement. If you come by, you’ll see us just doing what needs to be done. No fuss, no big talk, just work. We take things as they come and try not to complain too much.
