Kalpabata Farmers Producer Company

Kalpabata Farmers Producer Company is basically a group of us from around Magura Chhatia. We use Ananta Ku Tripathy’s place as our main point of contact for everything we do. If you’re looking for us, that’s where you’ll find some of the guys hanging out or checking the books. We started this because doing everything on your own was getting way too difficult with the rising costs. There’s a lot of us here who have small patches of land, and joining up just made sense for everyone involved. Chhatia is a good place, but farming here has its own set of problems that never seem to go away. We talk a lot about the dirt and the rain, as you might expect from people in our line of work. It’s not like we have some professional manager running things. It’s just Ananta and the rest of us trying to keep our heads above water. Some days we feel like we know what we’re doing, and other days the weather decides otherwise. We don’t use a lot of big words or have a fancy logo. It’s just about getting the produce out and hoping for a decent price at the end of the season. We share what we know and try to help the younger guys who are just starting out. It’s a slow life in some ways, but there’s always something that needs fixing or someone who needs a hand with their harvest. We are just regular people working the land.
