Our place is in Bhaunria, which is part of the Sukleswar area in Mahanga. Cuttack is the main district but we are a bit of a drive from the city center. Cuttack 4S4R Seed Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically a group of us working with seeds. The building we use is pretty plain and simple. It sits right there in the village. Most people around here know who we are. We do not have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just focus on the seeds and the farmers who need them for the next season. The road to Sukleswar can be a bit bumpy after the monsoon rains come through. It is a very green area though. We have a lot of space for storing what we need. Life in Mahanga is quiet for the most part. We deal with a lot of local folks every day. Sometimes they just stop by to chat about the weather or the next planting season. It is a practical business. We do not use big words or have fancy meetings. We just sit around and figure out what needs to be done. Being in Orissa, we know how important seeds are to everyone’s survival. It is a lot of responsibility but we just take it one day at a time. The office feels like home because it practically is.
