Ahamed & Comapny

Ahamed & Comapny is located on Kutchery Street in Parangipettai. It’s an old street, and we’ve been here for quite a while. The building has been in the family for a few generations. We don't do anything too fancy. It’s mostly just buying and selling what people need. Parangipettai is a coastal town, so the air is always a bit salty. This isn't great for the metal hinges on the doors, they get rusty fast. We have to oil them all the time. Our office has high ceilings and a big fan that wobbles a bit when it's on high speed. My uncle sits at the front desk most mornings. He knows everyone in town. We don't really have a big staff. It's just us and a couple of guys who help with the loading. Sometimes business is slow, especially when the weather is bad and nobody wants to come out. We just sit and listen to the radio then. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that people know where Kutchery Street is and they know we’ve always been here. We try to be fair with everyone who walks through the door. It’s a simple way to live. We’ve seen the town change a lot over the years, but our shop stays pretty much the same.
