Sri Sakthi Murugan Cements

Our shop, Sri Sakthi Murugan Cements, is located at No:8G, right by the Ayyanar Koil in Kattu Mannar Kudi. Being near the temple means we get a lot of people passing by every day. It’s a small place, mostly filled with stacks of cement bags that go all the way to the ceiling. Moving those bags is no joke, they are heavy and the dust gets everywhere, even in your hair and ears. I usually have a couple of guys helping me with the loading and unloading when the supply trucks arrive. We try to keep enough stock so people don't have to wait, but sometimes the supply from the factory is slow. It gets pretty humid here, so we have to be really careful about keeping the cement dry. If even a little bit of water gets in, the whole bag is ruined and that’s money down the drain. We mostly talk to local contractors and guys building their own small homes. There isn't much room for a desk, so I usually just sit on a stool near the front. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make sure people in Kattu Mannar Kudi have the stuff they need to finish their walls and floors. It’s been a long day, but that is just how it is.
