Venkateswara Peath Products

Out here in Pollachi, the weather really dictates how our day goes. Venkateswara Peath Products is based in Kakkadavu, and S. Karthik keeps a close eye on everything happening in the yard. If you’ve ever been to this part of the country, you know it’s all about coconuts and what we can do with them. We spend our time processing peat, which is a lot more physical than most people think. It’s not just sitting around. There’s a lot of lifting and moving bags in the sun. We aren't trying to be some massive global corporation. We are just a group of people working together in a small village. The office is just a room with a few chairs and some old ledgers. Most of our work happens outside where the air smells like earth and coconut husks. We have our regulars who come by, and sometimes new people find us by asking around Kakkadavu. We don't do much advertising because word of mouth usually does the trick for us. Karthik is always busy on his phone or checking the quality of the latest batch. We eat our lunch under the shade of the trees when it’s too hot to stay inside. It’s a quiet way of making a living, and we’re alright with that. We don't need fancy slogans to tell people what we do. The stacks of peat ready for transport say enough about our work and our daily effort.
